[edit] DBA/Evo Web Application
We're on the home stretch with testing well underway for completed features. Only two more features still in programming. A lot of work has already gone into making the installation short, simple and well-documented.
[edit] Editing the Data Table Field Descriptions
NovaZyg 17:45, 16 February 2007 (EST)The S/R database already has the descriptions in the Data Dictionary.. All our (ISTECH's) tables do. I know I did them. The Excel sheet is OLD. what is needed are users to provide me with sections of the dictionary that I can then import the descriptions into the STD datadictionary and all users will then have it. I will crate a program that will show these descriptions, and Talk to Tony to have him add the descriptions to the Report builder when adding fields to and RTM. So GasGiant, you can do the Inventory files BKIC* & Mticmstr, KKMFG you can do the Work Order files WO* I need an excel spreadsheet that contains the File name, then the Field name and then the description we want to use.
GasGiant 11:06, 16 February 2007 (EST) I'm Ready to start entering descriptions for data table fields. How are we proposing to do this? Seems that most would prefer adding the descriptions to the live tables, but how is that done (is TAS7 table editor required?) and where shall we place the official repository. Oh, and how are we proposing to get the data into publication?
Or do we want to update one central file that will get parsed later?
Adderd 10:17, 16 February 2007 (EST) I think that what most people want is to update the excel spreadsheet and then use that to populate the field descriptions.
GasGiant 11:05, 16 February 2007 (EST) Then it might be best to have one person be responsible for merging new/updated entries from editors. I've already offered to add the S/R module tables, which are new adds. What other new tables are there and who will volunteer to map and describe them?
Adderd 10:29, 16 February 2007 (EST)Yes, I don't know who will be that person but maybe NovaZyg??? Btw, use ~~~~ to stamp your replies with your user name and timestamp like I'm doing. It makes the conversation easier to follow. You can do it on any page to mark a change as yours.
Lynn Pantic 12:13, 16 February 2007 (EST) Can we post a link to the master spreadsheet that users can download at any time but only certain designated people can edit and add or change information?
Adderd 13:53, 16 February 2007 (EST) Why don't we just provide a link to the file on your server and let people know that they need to send changes to the designated people for inclusion in the master list?
GasGiant 14:18, 16 February 2007 (EST) I think that is best. Passing one document around is serial == slow. We want parallel. We need a volunteer who will merge the updates into one Excel document for submittal. We don't want NovaZyg to be saddled with that job. It should be one of us.
GasGiant 00:33, 17 February 2007 (EST) - It would be helpful at this juncture if we all knew how to get at these descriptions in the Data Dictionary. Maybe a HOWTO or a FAQ? That way everyone will know which files need to be worked on.
[edit] How do I add a page?
I want to add a page to the main navigation page, Beta Programs How do I do this?
This is where I will load the latest code not yet released, for users to beat up on...
--NovaZyg 20:06, 16 February 2007 (EST)
Adderd 21:09, 16 February 2007 (EST) Seems like you figured it out. I added the beta programs to the sidebar. For future reference, if any of you need to add/subtract/modify in the sidebar you get there by typing MediaWiki:Sidebar into the search field to the left and pressing Go.
Lynn Pantic 11:52, 17 February 2007 (EST) Looks like you need admin privilege or something to add a side bar. I wanted to add something for Problem Reports but I don't have an edit tab when I get to the sidebar using MediaWiki:Sidebar
Adderd 21:50, 17 February 2007 (EST) Ooops... You really should be an admin. I set it on NovaZyg but not you. I'll do that right now.
